CHP member Ferdi Zeyrek, the mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, was taken to hospital after suffering an electric shock at his home on June 6 and died 3 days later. After Zeyrek's death, a notable statement came from journalist Cem Küçük, known for his closeness to the government.
Speaking on the program “Medya Kritik” broadcast on TGRT Haber, Cem Küçük said he had serious doubts about Zeyrek's death and put forward striking allegations.

In his remarks on the program, Cem Küçük said Zeyrek had resisted pressure from certain dark circles and had therefore been threatened repeatedly.
Küçük said, “Zeyrek says, ‘I will give neither the tenders they want nor the money.’ He says he will continue on the path he believes is right and states that he was also threatened over other matters. He also disclosed the names of those who made these threats to Özgür Özel.”
Addressing CHP Chair Özgür Özel, Cem Küçük called on him to “share with the public who these people are. This matter must not be allowed to be covered up.”

In his remarks, Cem Küçük recalled that Zeyrek had said he was threatened four to five times over the past year.
Küçük said, “He talks about these threats at press conferences, on every platform he appears on. He even told Özgür Özel about them. Özel also told him, ‘Get used to these things.’ I have serious doubts about this death. This incident must not be covered up.”
