Journalist Serdar Akinan claimed in a YouTube broadcast that Bahçeli had warned Çakıcı and Kürşat Yılmaz to leave the country, and that both had done so. Akinan stated, "Devlet Bahçeli warned Alaattin Çakıcı and Kürşat Yılmaz to go abroad, and both of them have left."

In response to these claims, MHP member Üzeyir Çakmaktaş shared a photo on social media allegedly belonging to Alaattin Çakıcı. It was stated that the photo was taken at a gas station on the Istanbul-Bodrum road and that Çakıcı was there.

In his statement, Çakmaktaş said, "An instant/current photo of Alaattin Çakıcı taken at a gas station on the Istanbul/Bodrum route. The lie put forward by fugitive FETÖ agents and circulated by their counterparts in Turkey has blown up in their faces."

Along with the claims that Çakıcı had fled abroad, it had previously been alleged that Kürşat Yılmaz had left the country about two weeks ago.

Yılmaz had spent 17 years in prison for crimes including "establishing and managing a criminal organization for profit, qualified robbery, intentional injury, deprivation of liberty, and threats." However, the claim that Yılmaz has gone abroad has not yet been officially denied.
