New information has emerged regarding the lives in prison of footballers Mert Hakan Yandaş and Metehan Baltacı, who are being held at Silivri Prison as part of a "betting in football" investigation.
Sports Law Expert Lawyer Ercan Sevdimbaş described the order in the players' wards and their daily lives in an interview with Salim Manav on Radyospor.
METEHAN BALTACI BELIEVES HE IS INNOCENT
Lawyer Sevdimbaş stated that Metehan Baltacı wholeheartedly believes he is innocent. Sevdimbaş conveyed that Baltacı stated he did not place bets on the matches of the club he played for on loan (İskenderun or Eyüp) during a period when his Galatasaray license was inactive, and expressed that the prosecutor's office's interpretations of the matter were incorrect.
Sevdimbaş said, "Metehan is relaxed and waiting for his release date. His teammates and executives have come to visit him. Coach Okan came to see him twice. He also visited Abdurrahim Albayrak yesterday. He said Arda Turan would also visit soon."
Stating that he did not meet with Mert Hakan Yandaş in person, Sevdimbaş noted that he received information about the player's situation through his close friend Ersen Dikmen and conveyed his greetings.
Sevdimbaş provided remarkable information about how the footballers spend their time in prison. The players have transformed the volleyball court into a "foot tennis" court using their own creativity and spend their time having fun by playing matches.
Stating that the order in the wards is quite disciplined, Sevdimbaş noted that roll call is taken every morning and evening at 08:00. It was stated that the footballers closely follow football matches from around the world, especially the Süper Lig, on television.
Stating that they manage their nutrition in prison through the canteen, Sevdimbaş conveyed that there are people in the ward who cook very well and that their needs are met with orders placed through the canteen.
Stating that only detainees are present in the wards where the footballers are held, Sevdimbaş said that this situation reinforces the footballers' safety and contributes to them feeling more at peace mentally.
