Following the announcement that the minimum wage to be effective from January 1, 2026, will be 28 thousand 75 TL, eyes have turned to the salary increase that closely concerns retirees.
The raise rate that will determine the income of approximately 16 million retirees will become clear with the data to be announced on January 5.
With the December inflation figure to be announced by TUIK, the annual inflation will be finalized. As required by legislation, this rate will be reflected in pensions without any additional regulation.
While no positive signal has come from the government front regarding the welfare share demanded by SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees, the level to which the lowest pension will be raised after the data is announced on Monday has also begun to be discussed in the corridors.
INFLATION DIFFERENCE WILL BE THE DETERMINING FACTOR
Current economic indicators point to December inflation occurring at around 1 percent. If this possibility materializes, the 6-month inflation difference that retirees will receive will be at the level of 12.30 percent.
According to the legal regulation, while this increase is automatically reflected in base salaries, a separate legislative proposal must be submitted to Parliament for an increase to be made to the lowest pension.
LOWEST PENSION MAY BE 18,957 TL
According to the report by Besti Karalar from Ekonomim, the government plans to apply the finalized inflation rate to the lowest pension as well, without making any additional increase.
In this direction, with the regulation expected to be submitted to Parliament, it is foreseen that the lowest pension will be set at 18 thousand 957 TL.
