The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of foods subject to imitation or adulteration. It was determined that equine meat was used in ground beef and beef brisket at Çapan Kasap, which operates in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya. Additionally, it was revealed that equine meat was also used in the lahmacun sold at Başaran Etli Pide ve Börek Salonu in the same district.
The 'Foods Subject to Imitation or Adulteration' and 'Foods Endangering Health' lists published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continue to be a major topic of discussion. The Ministry has shared with the public new products and brands that put human health at risk.
EQUINE MEAT DETECTED
According to the 'Foods Endangering Health' list, it was determined that equine meat was found in the ground beef and beef brisket products of the business named “Çapan Kasap – İbrahim Çapan,” which operates in Muratpaşa, Antalya.
CITIZENS ARE CONCERNED
The Ministry's disclosure of the brand in question has caused great anxiety among citizens. Many people expressed their reactions on social media, making harsh comments such as, “Equine meat was sold, be held accountable!”, and “The Ministry of Agriculture detected equine meat at this butcher; it is unclear whether they fed people horse, donkey, or pig meat!”
ANOTHER SCANDAL IN THE SAME DISTRICT
Equine meat was also detected in the uncooked lahmacun mixture of the business named “Başaran Etli Pide ve Börek Salonu – İlknur Şahin,” which operates in the same district.
