The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has published a new list of imitation and adulterated products as part of its inspections in the fight against fake food.
During the inspections, striking findings were encountered, particularly in meat products.
Equine meat—specifically horse and donkey meat—was detected in meat products sold at a butcher shop in Adana. One of the most common forms of fraud seen on the list was also observed in olive oils.
It was determined that seed oils were mixed into many "extra virgin olive oil" products offered for sale in İzmir, Aydın, and Gaziantep.
Fraud was also notable in the milk and dairy products category. In some full-fat kashar cheeses offered for sale in Kahramanmaraş, values below the fat ratio stated on the label were detected.
Additionally, it was understood that in some samples, vegetable oil was used instead of animal fat.
SKIN TISSUE IN SAUSAGE
Serious non-compliances were detected in the sausage products of some companies operating in Konya. It was determined that food coloring, skin tissue, and mechanically separated poultry meat were used in the contents of the products.
Among the companies where non-compliance was detected during the inspections are the following:
Aktürk Sağlık Gıda (Mahbuba Tea Black Tea): Detection of food coloring
Kral Baharatları (Agah Thyme): Detection of foreign matter
Hilal Hayvansal Ürünler (Edremit Dünyası Olive Oil): Mixing of seed oil
Seçkin Adıyaman, Halil Gökkaya, E.A.T Tarım (various olive oils): Products containing seed oil
Rezzan Gıda (Tadım Gurme Kashar Cheese): Use of vegetable oil
Kısmetoğlu Beyti Et (sausages): Mixture of food coloring, skin tissue, and poultry meat
