Following the 5.0 magnitude earthquake felt in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari, seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a notable post on his social media account.
Stating that the earthquake occurred on the Bitlis-Zagros Thrust Zone, Görür drew attention to the seismic activity in the region.
Emphasizing that this line has been compressed between Eastern Anatolia and the Arabian Plate since the February 6 earthquakes, Görür stated, "This region is a zone where we expect more earthquakes."
According to AFAD data, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the city of Mergasur, Iraq. The tremor was felt in surrounding provinces, particularly in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari.
