The nanny, identified as M.I. and a national of Uzbekistan, attacked a 1-year-old baby named U.G., whom she was caring for in her own home, with kicks and slaps. A person who witnessed the incident recorded the events on their mobile phone and reported the situation to the police.
HAD BEEN CARING FOR THE BABY IN HER OWN HOME FOR TWO MONTHS
The incident occurred on April 25 in the Nişanca neighborhood. It was learned that M.I., who had been hired about 2 months ago to care for the baby of an Uzbek family, was providing childcare in her own home. However, it emerged that she had begun to physically abuse the small baby over time.
MOMENT OF VIOLENCE ON CAMERA
Another person present in the house saw the nanny slapping and kicking the crying baby and recorded those moments on their mobile phone. Following the footage, a report was made to the police.
POLICE RAIDED THE HOUSE
Upon the report, police teams arrived at the address and took M.I. into custody. During the inspection of the house, it was determined that in addition to the assaulted baby, there were 7 other children of Uzbek nationality present. The investigation revealed that 2 of these children belonged to M.I., while 5 belonged to neighbors.
Following the incident, the necessary procedures were initiated to hand over the two girls to the Child Protection Agency under the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE
M.I., who was taken into custody, was referred to the courthouse on charges of "intentional injury." Authorities stated that the investigation into the incident is being conducted meticulously.
