New development ahead of Erdoğan's meeting with DEM Party: Claims that footage of PKK terrorists laying down arms will be released

With the opening process restarted by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the terrorist organization PKK has reached a critical stage with its decision to lay down arms. The most notable step in the process will be the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the DEM Party's Imralı Delegation.

According to a report by Serbestiyet, the DEM Party delegation will meet with Erdoğan on July 8 or 9. The location and time of the meeting will be finalized based on the President's international schedule. DEM sources stated that "footage of laying down arms" would be released to the public following the meeting.

The main agenda item for the meeting between the DEM Party's Imralı Delegation—which has been in contact with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan—and Erdoğan will be the legal status of organization members who lay down their arms. DEM sources indicate that work is underway in Parliament on a new legal framework for terror crimes that are currently excluded from the scope of existing execution regulations.

With the new execution regulation, it will become clear what kind of legal basis will be established for organization members once the PKK's process of laying down arms is completed.

A SOLUTION COMMISSION IS BEING ESTABLISHED IN PARLIAMENT

Under the leadership of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, contacts have begun to establish a "solution commission" with all parties represented in Parliament. Kurtulmuş has met with both the ruling party and the opposition. In this context, the DEM Delegation will also conduct meetings with the CHP, MHP, and other political parties.

Although MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli previously proposed a 100-person commission, the AKP side prefers a more limited and workable structure.

The commission will include not only members of parliament but also journalists, academics, civil society representatives, and experts. This structure will present proposals and prepare legislative drafts on topics such as the Kurdish issue, democratization steps, and a new constitution.

DEM Party sources stated that the process will gain momentum with the meeting to be held with Erdoğan, providing the information that, "Everything is on track. The footage of laying down arms will be shared with the public in mid-July."

Emphasizing that contact with Öcalan is ongoing and that messages are being conveyed regularly, the sources pointed to the importance of a support process that encompasses all segments of society.

DEM sources also expressed that they support the opening process meetings initiated by Bahçeli and that similar efforts should be undertaken by other parties as well.
