A new development has occurred in the case regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. The lawyer for the mother, Yüksel Güran, who is being tried while in custody, has submitted a petition appealing her detention and requesting her release.
Yılmaz Demiroğlu, the lawyer for Yüksel Güran, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment at the verdict hearing, submitted the petition to the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court.
The panel of the 8th High Criminal Court evaluated the petition and decided to send it to the 9th High Criminal Court.
Meanwhile, the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court also sent the petition submitted by lawyers Adnan Ataş and Ali Eryılmaz, who had previously appealed the detention of Nevzat Bahtiyar—sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in the case regarding the murder of Narin Güran—to the authorized 9th High Criminal Court for the same reason.
At the verdict hearing held at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on December 28, 2024, the detained defendants, mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran, were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime."
