New development in the Rojin investigation! Family gives statement again
The family of Rojin Kabaiş, who was found dead 18 days after going missing in Van, has provided a statement once again following the appointment of a new prosecutor to the investigation file. Family members requested that the confidentiality order be lifted so that all aspects of the incident can be clarified. Former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Nahit Eren also expressed his support for the family's legal struggle.

The family of Rojin Kabaiş, a student at Yüzüncü Yıl University who went missing in Van on September 27, 2024, and was found dead on the shores of Lake Van 18 days later, has testified again.
In the investigation where a new prosecutor has been assigned, the Kabaiş family provided their testimony from the Diyarbakır Courthouse via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) at the request and instruction of the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. During the testimony, which was also attended by former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Nahit Eren, the statements and testimonies of Rojin Kabaiş's three sisters, her mother, and her father were taken again.
REQUEST FOR DETAILED INVESTIGATION
Family members once again requested that the investigation be continued by detailing all its aspects and that suspicious points be clarified.
WILL THE CONFIDENTIALITY ORDER BE LIFTED?
Eren stated the following:
“The public prosecutor newly assigned to the investigation file took the statements and testimonies of Rojin's three sisters, her mother, and her father today. As the complainant party, although we have not had sufficient information about the procedures carried out to date due to the confidentiality order on the file, the information that the investigation prosecutor is continuing their research and efforts to clarify all aspects of the incident was important for us.
For an effective investigation aimed at revealing the material truth, the contributions that the complainant party will present to the file should be valued. For this reason, we expect the confidentiality order, which is also not in accordance with the legal definition in the investigation file, to be lifted as soon as possible for the complainant party as well.
Rojin's family is waging a legal struggle to reveal the material truth in all its aspects. We will follow the legal process alongside our Van Bar Association, which has been by their side in this rightful demand and struggle until today.”
