Journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız reported an important development regarding the lawsuits filed by the lieutenants who were dismissed from the Tuzla Infantry School and expelled for crossing their swords and saying "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" on August 30.
Each lieutenant was issued a compensation demand between 450,000 and 500,000 Turkish Liras, citing the expenses for the education, courses, and allowances they received during their time as military students.
CALCULATED BASED ON THE DOLLAR EXCHANGE RATE
In her article titled "Compensation of 500 Thousand Liras demanded from lieutenants... The dollar exchange rate detail...", Müyesser Yıldız recalled the regulation change regarding military students published in the Official Gazette on March 15. Yıldız stated that with this change, it became certain that military students could only become officers if they passed the August 30 ceremony "without any accidents or trouble."
On the other hand, it was noted that the calculation of the compensation issued to the dismissed lieutenants was based on a dollar exchange rate of 26 liras for 2023 and 36 liras for 2024.
NOTABLE RESPONSE FROM THE LAND FORCES COMMAND
While the lieutenants filed lawsuits to cancel the dismissal decisions, they also requested that the collection of the compensation demanded from them be suspended. However, the Land Forces Command (KKK) stated that this process could not be stopped without a court order for a stay of execution, providing the following response:
"The Administrative Procedure Law stipulates that 'Filing a lawsuit in the Council of State or Administrative Courts does not stay the execution of the administrative act being challenged.' Therefore, a stay of execution for an administrative act is dependent on a stay of execution or cancellation order issued by the authorized and competent administrative court. For this reason, the proceedings regarding your outstanding debt file can only be stopped or terminated as a result of a stay of execution or cancellation order to be issued by the authorized and competent administrative court."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had previously announced that they would pay the compensation for the lieutenants dismissed from both Tuzla and the Land Forces. Finally, it was revealed that as a result of calculations made as of February 27, five lieutenants were forced to pay a total of around 450,000-500,000 liras on the grounds that they had not completed their mandatory service obligation.
