A new letter from Fatih Altaylı! 'Internal front' message draws attention: 'Kılıçdaroğlu paves the way for Erdoğan'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was arrested on charges of "threatening the President," criticized former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in a letter sent from prison for saying he would accept the leadership if a nullity decision were to emerge from the CHP congress lawsuit.

Stating that he expected this response, Altaylı said, "If you ask if it would be better if a trustee came, let me say it clearly: yes, it would be better." Asserting that "a trustee cannot harm the party as much as Kılıçdaroğlu," Altaylı wrote, "Kılıçdaroğlu would say yes to an early election in March 2028, support constitutional changes, and do everything to make Erdoğan president once again."

Expressing his expectation that the AKP would not bring out the congress decision on the 30th, when the hearing is scheduled, but at a more critical moment, Altaylı stated his view: "Let me say it once again: any possibility, including a trustee, is better than Kılıçdaroğlu."

In his letter, where he also relayed an allegation he heard from two sources, Altaylı wrote, "As far as I have heard, Kılıçdaroğlu sent a message to Özgür Özel saying, 'Do not stand behind İmamoğlu; bring up Mansur Yavaş or yourself as a presidential candidate, and I will support you in the congress lawsuit then.' I heard this from two separate places, but as I said, it is gossip."

The letter from Fatih Altaylı, read by his teammate Emre Acar on his YouTube channel, is as follows:

"I hope you are well; do not worry about me, I am doing quite well and getting better every day because my needs are decreasing. My television arrived the day before yesterday, and my refrigerator arrived yesterday; now I can store my vegetables and other food, and I can brew my tea. I am taking notes for the headings of this letter that I will write to my lawyer while drinking my tea. By the way, they say the empty chair is watched more than I am; I hope I still have a program when I get out, or that you won't fire me for the empty chair being watched as much as you. Jokes aside, the interest shown in that empty chair is actually a finger pointed by our people at the government's injustice, a message that says 'we are aware of your unfairness and lawlessness and we do not accept it,' and it is more than the total of all the government's channels combined.

Among those unjustly and unlawfully imprisoned in Silivri, where the concept of justice is locked behind bars, I think the person who has suffered the greatest injustice is the Mayor of Gaziosmanpaşa, but I suppose injustice is like pregnancy; there is no 'little' or 'much.' It either exists or it doesn't. We see here that the AKP seems set to bid farewell to the political scene by destroying everything that bears its name. Leader dependency can lead both parties and countries to ruin. Yesterday, in the section where we met with lawyers, a young lawyer opened the door and said, 'Fatih brother, I see you laughing; you are cheerful despite being unjustly imprisoned.' I told him that if I were justly imprisoned, my cheer would have vanished then. There are those here who do not lose their cheer and even stubbornly refuse to let their mood be spoiled, and there are those who fall into depression."

"AYŞE BARIM HAS LOST UP TO 20 KILOS"

Among those who maintain their cheer, Resul Emrah Şahan probably takes the first place. The most miserable, I suppose, is Ayşe Barım. I saw Barım for the first time yesterday; she has lost nearly 20 kilos. She is suffering from various illnesses and seems to have lost faith that she will get out of here alive. She should be released at her first hearing because anything else is truly merciless.

Emre, it might seem strange to you, but prison has its own unique comfort. Yes, you might ask what could be comfortable about a single plastic chair, a plastic table, a tiny television, a mini-fridge, and limited access to all kinds of products. However, from my own perspective, I see this as comfort: my phone doesn't keep ringing because I don't have one. I don't get 200 messages a day that I need to respond to. For the first time in the last 40 years, I am not in a constant rush to get somewhere. There is no stress of being late for something. You don't have to attend invitations you don't really want to go to. You don't have to think about things like 'did I take the house keys with me' or 'what should I wear in the morning.' The only difficulty is being away from your loved ones, your friends, and most importantly, your family; yet, knowing they are well is enough. Especially the upright stance of my wife and daughter both makes me proud and gives me strength.

"A TRUSTEE IS BETTER THAN KILIÇDAROĞLU"

I can guess that you want to ask about some topics on the agenda. For example, the sentence the former CHP chairman said to the mayor and party officials who met with him: 'If a nullity decision comes out, I will accept the chairmanship; what should I do, leave the party to a trustee?' Were you surprised by this answer, or were you not expecting it? I had not the slightest doubt that he would give exactly this answer. Just as the nullity lawsuit is the government's plan, this man is also a part of the government's plan. If you ask if it would be better if a trustee came, let me say it clearly: yes, it would be better. A trustee cannot harm the party as much as Kılıçdaroğlu. They would be afraid, hesitant, and would already be taking it to a congress quickly. Kılıçdaroğlu, on the other hand, would say yes to an early election in March 2028, support constitutional changes, and do everything to make Erdoğan president once again. Muharrem İnce's return to the CHP is good news. I wish Ümit Özdağ and even Yavuz Ağıralioğlu would return to the İYİ Party. Or at least that they were talking about some form of cooperation. Because their combined potential is at least 15 points.

Another issue is the 'internal front' topic opened by Erdoğan. The President said we must strengthen the internal front, and I laughed. Since 2008, he has allowed all kinds of insults against half of the internal front, ignored the segment of society that does not support his party, viewed a part of society almost as an enemy, had all his political opponents and anyone he saw as a political threat imprisoned, and now talking about strengthening the internal front—which he himself has shattered while happily watching the so-called judicial processes—can only be the subject of a joke.

"IF YOU SEE THEY ARE FALLING, CREATE A CRISIS"

Another joke came from Ömer Çelik. The AKP spokesperson, who says whatever comes to his mind about polls that don't suit them, shared a poll result and said, 'Society wants to see Erdoğan at the head of the country in times of crisis.' It was like a confession. I understood his words as 'If you see the votes are falling, create a crisis.' And I returned to June 2015; our government must have been quite saddened by the ceasefire in the Iran-Israel war.

Speaking of Israel, someone from the government wing—weak himself but with a strong political cheek—said that Israel poses a threat to Turkey. Again, I wish they would sit down with their partner and make a decision; one says Israel is a threat to Turkey, the other tries to scare Israel by saying 'we can come suddenly one night' using the Karabakh example. If two partners think so differently, there is a problem with that partnership.

ERDOĞAN-TRUMP MEETING

If you ask me, neither do we attack Israel, nor does Israel attack us; of course, Israel doesn't need to attack to harm us anyway. By the way, I saw the happy photo of our President with the president of the country that is bombing Iran, and I liked it. While condemning the US yesterday, today a pose of happiness; I remembered Demirel, who said 'yesterday was yesterday, today is today.'
