Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan drew attention to a letter sent by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to governorates on January 28 in a post on his social media account.
Stating that the letter was sent with the heading "urgent" following the disaster in Kartalkaya, Özcan expressed that the ministry is trying to shift the blame onto others instead of taking responsibility.
OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY LIES WITH THE MINISTRY
In his post, Tanju Özcan stated, "The Ministry of Tourism sent a letter to all governorates immediately after the Kartalkaya disaster. Looking at the date of the letter, it is clearly seen that the oversight authority lies entirely with the ministry. They are acting as if they are blameless, but this letter confesses that all responsibility for oversight lies with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. If you had written this letter 6 months ago, perhaps this disaster would never have happened."
INSTRUCTION FROM THE MINISTRY FOR LICENSE INSPECTION
In the letter sent by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to the governorates, it was requested that the validity of the business opening and operating licenses of facilities with simple accommodation tourism business certificates be checked.
It was requested that the certificates of businesses whose licenses have lost their validity be canceled and reported to the ministry.
