New wave in football betting and match-fixing operation: Names of those detained revealed
24 people, including former Galatasaray Deputy Chairman Erden Timur, have been detained. A total of 29 detention warrants were issued in the operation conducted over allegations of football players betting and match-fixing. The identities of those detained have been announced.
A major operation has been carried out in the world of football. 24 people were detained in simultaneous raids conducted in 11 provinces centered in Istanbul. It is stated that the suspects will be questioned for the crimes of betting and match-fixing. Businessman Erden Timur, former Deputy Chairman of Galatasaray and Chairman of the Board of Nef, is among those detained.
Following research and digital examinations, detention warrants were issued for 29 suspects. In the investigations conducted in light of MASAK reports, legal betting data, PFDK decisions, and HTS records, it was determined that the suspects committed crimes related to betting.
In the statements made regarding businessman Erden Timur, it was emphasized that suspicious financial transactions and betting accounts were detected. However, the accusations against Timur do not involve direct match-fixing, but rather money laundering and money traffic linked to betting.
Fatih Kulaksız IS ALSO IN CUSTODY
Eyüpspor AS President Fatih Kulaksız is also among those detained. It is alleged that Kulaksız is linked to the football match-fixing and betting operation.
Among the football players, the names of 14 suspects were identified and detention warrants were issued for them. Most of the players accused of betting are 2nd League players. The detained football players include the following:
