'Opportunists' emerge in Kartalkaya tragedy! They demanded thousands of liras to transport the bodies

While Turkey mourns the 76 people who lost their lives in the fire tragedy in Kartalkaya, funeral opportunists who wounded the public conscience have also emerged. It has been learned that some private funeral transport vehicles arriving from outside the city demanded amounts of up to 100,000 TL from the families of the deceased.
THEY ARE DEMANDING 100,000 TL FOR ANKARA AND ISTANBUL
According to a report by Habertürk, immediately following the tragedy in Bolu Kartalkaya that claimed 76 lives, it was learned that some funeral opportunists arriving from outside the city demanded exorbitant sums from the families of the deceased for transport.
It was noted that some private funeral transport vehicles, which were reported to have come from outside the city and were identified following complaints from citizens, demanded amounts close to 100,000 TL from families for transporting bodies to Ankara and Istanbul.
MUNICIPALITY PROVIDES FREE TRANSPORT
Bolu Municipality officials stated that the municipality covers funeral transport costs free of charge. Noting that Bolu Municipality has 6 funeral transport vehicles and that they are providing service with 14 additional vehicles requested from neighboring provincial municipalities due to the high number of casualties, officials said that the municipality does not charge any fees for transport operations.
The municipal officials, who noted that the transport of bodies from the Forensic Medicine Institute is being carried out, stated that they have no information regarding the private transport vehicles arriving from outside the city.
