Özgür Özel had said 'Our candidate is clear': Striking results from the poll on who should be the CHP's presidential candidate! İmamoğlu or Yavaş?

While discussions about early elections continue in the public eye, the question of which name the CHP will nominate for the presidential elections remains a subject of curiosity.

Following the investigation launched into CHP Youth Branch President Cem Aydın and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel called on AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to head to the ballot box, stating: "Cut out the middleman, withdraw Akın, we are here. If you want to settle scores and have no fear, bring the ballot box and get your answer from the nation. Let it be whatever the nation says. I challenge you. My party is ready, I am ready, our candidate is ready. Come face me and you will get your answer."

ASAL Research and Consultancy Company conducted a study regarding the CHP's presidential candidate.

In the survey conducted with 1,800 people in 26 provinces between January 10-14, 2025, participants were asked the question, "Who would you like to see as the CHP's presidential candidate in the upcoming elections?"

In the poll, which included CHP leader Özgür Özel, İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, the percentage of those who said "I have no opinion" drew attention.

The survey results are as follows:

Mansur Yavaş: 34.5%

Ekrem İmamoğlu: 22.6%

Özgür Özel: 5.3%

I have no opinion: 25.7%

Someone else: 4.1%

None: 7.8%
