Following the dismissal of the CHP İstanbul Provincial Administration, the party leadership held an extraordinary meeting. After the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel joined a broadcast on Halk TV.
It was stated that Özel, who traveled to Istanbul after the broadcast, would meet with provincial administrators and place greater emphasis on activities in Istanbul in the coming period.
It was reported that there is a general consensus within party circles that the decision to cancel the Istanbul Provincial Congress is linked to the party convention lawsuit scheduled for September 15.
DECISION TO CHANGE EVENTS
According to a report by Ceren Bayar from T24, changes were also made to the CHP's near-term program following the MYK meeting. While some of the founding anniversary events scheduled to be held between September 4-9 were canceled, others will be carried out with new formats.
The marathon planned for Sunday was canceled, while no changes were made to the schedule of the Party Program Workshop on September 5.
SOLIDARITY CONCERT INSTEAD OF FOUNDING CONCERT
The concerts to be held on September 9 have been given a new identity. The name "Founding Concert" has been changed to "Solidarity Concert." 20 artists, including Suavi, Arif Sağ, Belkıs Akkale, Feryal Öney, Niyazi Koyuncu, and Selçuk Balcı, will perform at the concert to be held in Batıkent.
"RESIGNATION" CLAIMS DENIED
Claims that emerged following the cancellation of the Istanbul Provincial Congress, suggesting that "Özel will resign in order to be a candidate again," were clearly denied by the party leadership.
CHP officials stated that Özel continues his duty and that no such plan is under consideration.
FINAL WORD ON COMMISSION DISCUSSIONS
Another topic of discussion was the claims that the CHP would withdraw from the work of the "National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission" established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the new outreach process called "Terror-Free Turkey."
Party officials also denied these rumors and announced that the CHP would maintain its place in the commission.
