SARAL LINKS THE MURDER TO ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
Chief Advisor to the President Oktay Saral targeted CHP leader Özgür Özel over the murder. Recalling Özel's recent harsh criticisms of the judiciary, Saral stated the following:
"Every time you took the podium, you humiliated the judiciary and discredited judges and prosecutors. By saying 'the prosecutor has disappeared from the bench,' you openly made them a target. If a prosecutor's blood has been shed today, this is not just an individual attack; it is the point to which your provocative language has brought society. You have a moral responsibility for this murder, Özgür Özel. Your words have turned into blood!"
Journalist Fuat Uğur, who is close to the government, also made a similar statement, linking the murder to the criticisms of the judiciary made by CHP leader Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
