Parents beware: Counterfeit baby formula worth 8.7 million TL seized
In a raid on a warehouse in Şehitkamil, Gaziantep, 8.7 million TL worth of counterfeit baby formula was seized. While 10 tons and 850 kilograms of formula produced under unsanitary conditions were destroyed, one person was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

In the Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep, a case of counterfeiting that poses a serious threat to infant health has come to light. Teams from the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command, acting under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as part of efforts to combat smuggling, identified a warehouse where counterfeit baby formula was being produced.
During the raid on the address where the illicit production was taking place, a total of 10 tons and 850 kilograms of counterfeit formula were seized. It was learned that the products, which have an estimated market value of 8 million 700 thousand TL, were being prepared to be released onto the market.
THE WAREHOUSE WAS OPERATING UNDER UNSANITARY CONDITIONS
Initial investigations determined that the formula was prepared under unsanitary and unhygienic conditions and was not subject to any inspections. It was stated that these products, which directly threaten infant health, were to be labeled and offered for sale to give the impression of being original products.
SAMPLES TAKEN, PRODUCTS BEING DESTROYED
Following the operation, teams from the Gaziantep District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry were also dispatched to the scene. Samples were taken from the products, and the destruction process was initiated. It was stated that laboratory tests would be conducted on the contents of the counterfeit formula.
It was determined that the warehouse in question belonged to an individual identified as E.B. Both judicial and administrative proceedings have been initiated against E.B., who was taken into custody.
