The claims regarding Çerçioğlu's potential move to the AKP have brought her past statements back to the agenda. In a speech she gave at the municipal council regarding Nazilli Mayor Kürşat Engin Özcan, who joined the AKP in November 2022, she had used the following expressions:
"The public's vote was for the Nation Alliance, not the People's Alliance. This was not by the public's vote. I worked in that region; I do not grant my labor or my rights to him."
