With the "General Communiqué on the Tax Procedure Law" published in the Official Gazette, it was announced that traffic fines have been increased by 43.93%. The fines, which were increased based on the revaluation rate determined by the Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, began to be applied as of January 1, 2025.
RECORD FINE FOR THOSE USING FLASHING LIGHTS
Fines have been increased for drivers who install "flashing" lights or sound devices on their vehicles without authorization. A fine of 138 thousand 172 liras will be imposed for the first violation, and 276 thousand 345 liras if repeated within a year. This regulation aims to be a deterrent, especially for drivers who use unauthorized symbols of authority.
FINE FOR RED LIGHT VIOLATION
The fine for violations such as running a red light, talking on a mobile phone while driving, or not carrying a driver's license has become 2 thousand 167 liras.
For serious violations such as driving in the wrong direction, the fine amount has been set at 9 thousand 267 liras.
GRADUATED FINES FOR SPEEDING
Fines for speeding violations have been regulated according to the extent of the violation:
Those driving 10% to 30% over the limit will be fined 2 thousand 167 liras,
Those exceeding the limit by 30% to 50% will be fined 4 thousand 512 liras,
Those exceeding the limit by more than 50% will be fined 9 thousand 267 liras.
In addition, the driver's licenses of those who exceed the speed limit by more than 50% five times within the same year will be revoked for one year.
FINE FOR PARKING IN DISABLED SPACES
The fine amount for drivers who park in spaces reserved for the disabled has become 1,986 liras. This practice aims to protect living spaces for the disabled.
FINE FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
For drivers driving under the influence of alcohol: 9 thousand 267 liras for the first violation,
11 thousand 622 liras for the second violation,
18 thousand 677 liras for the third and subsequent violations will be applied.
The driver's license will be suspended for 6 months for the first violation, 2 years for the second, and 5 years for the third and subsequent violations.
A fine of 47 thousand 842 liras will be imposed on those driving under the influence of drugs or stimulants. In addition, these individuals will be banned from traffic for 5 years.
