The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Cybercrimes Investigation Bureau has prepared an indictment against Acun Ilıcalı and several other individuals as part of an investigation into illegal betting.
The indictment alleges that illegal betting sites were promoted through virtual advertising techniques during football matches broadcast on the TV8 and EXXEN platforms. In this context, it was stated that Ilıcalı is listed as a "suspect" and that a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years is being sought for him.
ALLEGATION OF ILLEGAL BETTING ADVERTISING
The indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office alleges that advertisements for unlicensed betting sites were displayed via virtual advertising techniques during football matches broadcast on TV8 and EXXEN.
Stating that this situation constitutes the crime of “encouraging individuals to engage in illegal betting,” the prosecution has requested that Ilıcalı and other suspects be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison and a judicial fine of up to 3,000 days.
SENT TO COURT
The indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office has been sent to the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance for evaluation. If the court accepts the indictment, the trial of Acun Ilıcalı and the other suspects will begin.
