Reha Muhtar, who had been experiencing health issues for some time, was taken to a private hospital in the Bodrum district of Muğla after falling ill recently. Diagnosed with heart failure, Muhtar was placed under treatment in the intensive care unit.
Despite all interventions by doctors after his health condition worsened, Muhtar could not be saved and passed away at the hospital where he was being treated. The news of his death was met with sadness in the media and arts community.
HIS PAST POST HAS COME TO THE FORE AGAIN
Following Muhtar's death, some posts he made on his social media account last year have begun to be discussed again. Addressing the problems artist Ferdi Tayfur experienced with his family, Muhtar had stated that he did not want similar situations to occur in his own life.
In his post, he had stated, "I hope what happened to Ferdi Tayfur—not being able to see his daughter while she was under the influence of her mother, and the events at his funeral after he dies—does not happen to me. My whole struggle is about that..."
“DENİZ UĞUR SHOULD NOT COME TO MY FUNERAL”
One of Reha Muhtar's most talked-about posts was the statement he made regarding his ex-wife, Deniz Uğur. In his post, Muhtar had included the words, "It is my will to those who love me: if I die, Deniz Uğur should not come to my funeral."
DISPUTE OVER CHILD CUSTODY
At the center of the disputes between Reha Muhtar and Deniz Uğur, which were reflected in the public eye for many years, was the custody of their children. The couple separated with a protocol they signed in 2010 and had agreed that the custody of their twin children, Mina Deniz and Poyraz Deniz, would remain with their father, Reha Muhtar.
In the following period, new legal processes began between the parties. As a result of the lawsuit filed by Deniz Uğur, the court ruled that the custody of the children be given to the mother.
Developments following the brain hemorrhage Reha Muhtar suffered in 2024 also came to the public's attention. Deniz Uğur had claimed that her son Poyraz was kidnapped and accused the artist Nilüfer and her daughter.
While Nilüfer denied the allegations in question, Poyraz announced in a video he released that he had not been kidnapped.
