Released after 190 days: First message from Fatih Altaylı!

Journalist Fatih Altaylı has been released from Silivri Prison, where he had been held for approximately 190 days. Following a detention review, the 2nd Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice ruled for Altaylı's release from prison.

Altaylı shared his first message following his release. According to OdaTV, Altaylı expressed his gratitude in a message to his friends for the support and well-wishes he received.

FIRST MESSAGE AFTER RELEASE

Fatih Altaylı included the following statements in his message:

"My dear friends. I have received so many loving get-well messages that I cannot respond to them one by one. I don't know how to thank you all. Thank you, may you be well. It is good that you exist. It is good that I am surrounded by you. I want to convey my deepest love and gratitude to you all."

Altaylı was arrested on June 22 on charges of "threatening the President" due to remarks he made during a broadcast on his YouTube channel.

In the case heard at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court, Altaylı was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison, and it was decided that his detention would continue on the grounds that "judicial control provisions would not be sufficient."

CASE MOVED TO APPEALS COURT

Following the court's detention decision, Altaylı's lawyers moved the case to the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice. As a result of the detention review, the 2nd Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice ruled for Altaylı's release.
