Scandalous incident in Istanbul! Suspect draws a gun on police and advances toward them

In October of last year in Beyoğlu, a person pointed a gun at police officers who had apprehended a suspect with an outstanding arrest warrant while they were en route to the police station. The security teams, who intervened and took the suspect into custody, seized 61 kilograms of marijuana with a market value of approximately 50 million lira during a search of his home. Footage of the moments the suspect pointed a gun at the police and the subsequent search of his home has emerged.

'SO WHAT IF YOU ARE POLICE! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?'

The B-Region Security Teams, affiliated with the Istanbul Security Branch Directorate, detained a person they stopped on suspicion in October of last year after discovering he had an outstanding warrant. While the suspect was being taken to the police station for processing, an individual approached the police team, asking, "What's going on, who are you?" Despite the security teams identifying themselves as police, the individual continued the argument, responding, "So what if you are police? Who are you, who do you think you are, handcuffing this man?"

DREW A GUN ON POLICE, WAS NEUTRALIZED

Following this, the police teams attempted to move the aggressor away. However, the suspect turned his back, suddenly drew his weapon, and pointed it at the officers. Just as the suspect was about to pull the trigger, the security teams neutralized him. Security camera footage of the incident has emerged. The suspect, whose identity was determined by police to be Osman T. (31), had his unlicensed pistol confiscated and was taken to the police station. Officers then moved to search his home in the Yeşilpınar neighborhood of Eyüpsultan.

61 KILOGRAMS OF MARIJUANA FOUND

The security teams raiding the house observed Osman T.'s mother, Şükran Y., running to the bedroom and taking 14 thousand 800 lira from among the clothes. While the money was confiscated, a precision scale was found on top of the refrigerator during the search of the kitchen. Continuing the search, the security teams entered the garden and seized approximately 61 kilograms of packaged marijuana inside bags. The police confiscated the items found in the house, and Şükran Y. was also taken into custody.

MARKET VALUE APPROXIMATELY 50 MILLION

Şükran Y. and her son Osman T. were taken to the police station, where their statements were recorded and judicial proceedings were initiated. It was revealed that Osman T. was involved in a "voluntary manslaughter" case in 2021. After the procedures, Osman T. was referred to the courthouse and arrested on charges of "armed threat," "violation of the law on firearms," and "drug trafficking," while his mother, Şükran Y., was released under judicial control conditions.
