Shocking claim in Narin Güran murder case: 'There is one more person being protected'

Ali Eryılmaz, the lawyer for Nevzat Bahtiyar, a detained defendant in the case regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found in a creek bed after she went missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, and Mahir Akbilek, the lawyer for detained defendant Enes Güran, answered questions on a live broadcast on TV 100.

"WE KNOW WHO THE KILLER IS"

When asked by the program's host, Cansu Canan, "Who killed Narin?", Nevzat Bahtiyar’s lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz, said the following:

“I am certain that Nevzat Bahtiyar did not kill her; however, I have been involved in this case for about 30 days, and since I entered the case as Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, we have our impressions and knowledge about the case.

It is not legally correct to call someone 'the killer' before their guilt is proven in court. We actually know who the killer is, but we cannot bring ourselves to say it due to the legal process.”

Subsequently, Mahir Akbilek, the lawyer for Narin's brother and detained defendant Enes Güran, opposed Bahtiyar's lawyer, stating, "We strongly object by evaluating the evidence in the file as a whole."

"THERE IS 1 MORE PERSON BEING PROTECTED"

Later in the program, tv100 Expert Police Reporter Devrim Tosunoğlu asked, “Is there someone being protected here, outside of these 4 defendants?”

In response to this question, Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz, said, “There are 4 defendants in this case, and one person outside of these 4 defendants is being protected.

That protected person is not involved in this case” he stated.

Lawyer Eryılmaz stated that the protected person is not male, and used the expression, “And the incident is a matter of honor.”
