In the drug investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office last October, a large number of famous figures were taken from their homes early in the morning.
The famous figures were released after providing blood samples and statements.
The investigation in question also spread to the media, and recently, Show TV News Anchor Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, Beyaz TV Main News Anchor Hande Sarıoğlu, and former Habertürk anchor Meltem Acet were detained by the gendarmerie on charges of "purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for use, or using drugs or stimulants."
While the famous anchors were released after their blood samples and statements were taken, a bombshell development occurred as the investigation continued.
Within the scope of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants were issued for 8 people, and 4 people, including Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were arrested and sent to prison.
The TMSF management at Habertürk terminated the employment of Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who had been released after providing a statement and a blood sample in the investigation.
According to a report by the pro-government Sabah newspaper, striking footage was found on the phone of Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, whose belongings were seized and whose legal proceedings are ongoing following her detention.
It is alleged that footage was found of her recording herself while using a drug known as liquid cannabis, which has the active ingredient THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), via a device in the Habertürk office.
The examination revealed that Cebeci had sent the footage in question to famous comedian Cem Yılmaz.
'I QUIT THOSE THINGS IN 1998'
According to the correspondence records, it was determined that Cem Yılmaz responded to the drug-related video sent to him by saying, "I quit those things in 1998."
