Statement from Rojin Kabaiş's grieving father: He refutes suicide claims

Nizamettin Kabaiş, the father of university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found 18 days after she went missing in Van, broke down in tears while collecting his daughter's suitcase from the judicial repository.

“I have lost my daughter, my life, but I have not lost my courage. There is no sleep for me until the killers are found; my daughter never leaves my mind,” said father Kabaiş, adding, “Rojin’s suitcase has arrived, but my Rojin has not. I live for my children.

Rojin was very thoughtful and very hardworking. I had bought her sausage, and she hadn't even eaten that.

I am certain they beat my daughter to death. No one should tell me it was suicide.

If I am left without support, how am I supposed to be strong?” he said.

Speaking to Candan Yıldız from T24, the father also criticized the rector of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ), where his daughter was a student.

Father Kabaiş said, “I went to see Rector Hamdullah Şevli. His student has died, but he hasn't followed up at all. I told the Rector that there are reeds 2 meters tall in the area where Rojin went missing.

If someone went in there, no one could see them. He isn't even aware of that. How would he know about Rojin?

There is no security at the school,” he said.
