Statement from truck driver in tragic accident that killed Ecem revealed!

28-year-old Ecem Sultan Çamlı, who worked as a systems engineer at a company operating in the field of aviation technology in Pendik, set out from her home in Kurtköy in the morning to go to work. Around 08:45, Çamlı, who was traveling on a scooter on Osmanlı Boulevard in the Yenişehir neighborhood, was struck by a tractor-trailer without a trailer driven by H.F.Ç. (24). Ecem Sultan Çamlı, a graduate of Balıkesir University Electrical and Electronics Engineering, was dragged for 150 meters before ending up under the truck. While Çamlı, who was seriously injured, lost her life at the hospital where she was taken, the truck driver H.F.Ç., who was detained, was arrested on charges of 'causing death by negligence.' "I DID NOT FEEL THAT I HIT HER WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK"

Truck driver H.F.Ç. stated in his testimony, “I work as a truck driver for a logistics company. On the morning of November 5, while I was driving the red truck under my control, without a trailer, on Osmanlı Boulevard in the Yenişehir neighborhood towards Sabiha Gökçen Airport, I suddenly stopped due to the persistent honking of the vehicles behind me. When I got out of the vehicle, I saw a person named Ecem Sultan Çamlı, whose name I learned due to the incident, lying injured on the ground at the rear of the truck. Based on the statements of those around, I learned that I had run over the scooter the woman was using and that the woman had been thrown. I did not see how the incident occurred because I did not see the person who died as a result of the accident, as the front right point of the vehicle is a blind spot, and I did not feel that I hit her while driving the truck; there was no sound or shaking. At first, I went to the person and asked about her condition; she said she was fine but was having difficulty breathing. Çamlı was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and I waited for the police at the scene of the accident. When I was taken to the police station for processing, I learned that the woman had passed away. I do not think I am at fault in the occurrence of the accident; the far right lane was closed, and I was driving in the far left lane because I was going to make a turn 40-50 meters later. I do not accept the accusation against me.”

"MY CLIENT IS NOT AT FAULT"

The suspect's lawyer said, “The accident occurred while the victim was traveling in the far left lane, contrary to the electric scooter regulations. Before the accident, she had been traveling in the blind spot in front of my client for about 40-50 meters. My client is not at fault in the occurrence of the accident; my client was driving in the left lane because he was going to turn shortly. Eyewitnesses also stated that the victim was thrown onto the road and that the truck ran over the rear wheel of the scooter. We request that he be released first, and if a contrary opinion is formed, that the provisions in his favor be applied.”

ECEM LAID TO REST AMID TEARS

Çamlı's funeral was laid to rest in her hometown of Balıkesir amid tears.

Ecem Sultan Çamlı, a graduate of Balıkesir University Electrical and Electronics Engineering, was preparing projects in the field of aviation and defense industry while also serving as the president of the Ebabil Science and Technology Association, which she founded herself. Ecem Sultan Çamlı, who also attended the SAHA EXPO 2024 fair held last week with the company she worked for, had shared on her social media account, "We are proud to exhibit our aerial vehicles that we have developed with the goal of increasing Turkey's power in the field of aviation and defense."

In 2010, while she was a primary school student in Balıkesir, Ecem Sultan Çamlı achieved the success of becoming the world runner-up out of 2,697 projects with her work on 'The Atom' in the animation category at the 6th International Informatics Olympiad (E-BİKO). Çamlı, who also served as the captain of the Ebabil Drone Team in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at Balıkesir University, was a member of the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce Women Entrepreneurs Provincial Board.

Ecem Sultan Çamlı's body was sent to her hometown of Balıkesir after the autopsy procedures. A funeral ceremony was held for Çamlı today at the Zağnos Paşa Mosque during the afternoon prayer. The ceremony was attended by Çamlı's family, other relatives, and loved ones. After the prayer led by Karesi District Mufti Ali Gürler, Ecem Sultan Çamlı's coffin, which was carried on shoulders for a while, was taken to Çınarlıdere Cemetery and laid to rest amid tears.
