Striking analogy from Fatih Altaylı for Aziz İhsan Aktaş: He cited the Öcalan example

Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who was arrested on charges of being the leader of a criminal organization, was released under judicial control after benefiting from effective remorse during his detention process. In addition to Aktaş, the house arrest of Ertan Yıldız, an advisor to the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) who was arrested during the İBB operations and later released after benefiting from effective remorse, was also recently lifted. However, it was reported that the house arrest and judicial control decisions regarding Adem Soytekin and Alican Abacı remain in effect.

HE CAUSED THE ARREST OF CHP MAYORS

Aktaş, who was arrested in a "corruption" operation targeting the CHP-run Beşiktaş Municipality, led to the arrest of numerous CHP mayors with the statements he provided after benefiting from effective remorse.

"THEY ARE ROAMING AROUND IN RESTAURANTS"

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had visited those detained in the İBB operations shortly before the decision. Expressing his reaction, Özel stated that some individuals released under effective remorse were roaming around in restaurants in Istanbul despite being under house arrest:

"You arrest one Mehmet without asking the bar association, and you give the other house arrest. They are roaming around in restaurants in Istanbul. We have submitted what we have to the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK); let's see when they will have the courage to dismantle this gang?"

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, in his weekend assessment, drew attention to the situation of Aziz İhsan Aktaş. Describing the applied legal process as an "absurdity," Altaylı made a striking comparison using the Öcalan example. Altaylı used the following expressions:

"The man who admits to being the leader of the gang is outside. Those who are alleged to have worked with him are in custody. The real strangeness is not the lifting of the house arrest, but that Aktaş was never in prison at all. Let me give an example: Öcalan is captured, he gives names during interrogation. He says, 'I got the weapon from this person, this person supported me.' Then Öcalan is released, and the names he gave are arrested. Today's picture is exactly that."

"THE ONLY PERSON WHO WILL EVENTUALLY BE SENTENCED IS AKTAŞ"

Stating that Aktaş will sooner or later receive a sentence, Altaylı also drew attention to the foresight of CHP leader Özgür Özel:

"Özel seems to have a good source in the courthouse. After Mücahit Birinci, he said that Aktaş was walking around while under house arrest, and the house arrest was lifted before 24 hours had passed. I wouldn't be surprised if he flees abroad. Maybe that's why they gave him eight bodyguards."
