The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry does not just publish the list of products that threaten health and foods that contain imitation or adulteration on its website. It also prevents the sale of the mentioned products and imposes penalties on the relevant companies.
FOUND TO BE ENTIRELY WATER
While this list is on the agenda, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry determined during its inspections that "Birşah" brand milk contained only water and decided to recall it.
Danone, the producer of Birşah milk sold at A101 stores, released a statement announcing that the faulty products were recalled due to a technical glitch during the production phase.
"DRINKABLE WATER WAS MISTAKENLY PACKAGED"
In the statement made by Danone, it was claimed that the incident was isolated, describing the event as "We accidentally added water instead of milk."
"WE ACCIDENTALLY ADDED WATER INSTEAD OF MILK"
The statement made by Danone read as follows:
In our facility where we produce milk and dairy products, drinkable water is used at the beginning of production to ensure temperature balance, as required by the UHT milk production technology.
"AN ISOLATED TECHNICAL GLITCH LASTING ONE MINUTE"
It has been determined that an isolated technical glitch occurred for approximately one minute on the production line of the 1-liter 3.1% fat UHT drinking milk under the Birşah brand, which we produce, and as a result, drinkable water was mistakenly packaged in approximately the first 100 liters (100 packages) of the product with batch number 176.L.
"NO GLITCH THAT WOULD AFFECT PUBLIC HEALTH"
The limited amount of product containing approximately 100 liters of drinkable water does not pose a danger that would affect public health.
"PRODUCT RECALLED"
Our company always prioritizes quality and food safety above all else in all its activities, and the product has been recalled from all points of sale through retrospective traceability.
