Social media influencer Taner Çağlı had been arrested on charges of "facilitating the use of drugs or stimulants" as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It was learned that Çağlı benefited from the effective remorse law last week and was released with a travel ban imposed.
According to the report by Seyhan Avşar, Çağlı, who benefited from effective remorse, provided the names of numerous individuals in his statement.
It was learned that Çağlı, who exposed the locations where drug parties were held, also gave a statement regarding Mehmet Akif Ersoy, whom he had previously hosted on his program and showered with praise.
In his previous statement, Çağlı had said, "I saw Akif in August and September. He came to my boat in Göcek. When the topic turned to power and politics, he said, 'I can get drugs through anywhere, even the airport. No one can search me.'"
It was learned that in his supplementary statement, the whistleblower Çağlı said, "Mehmet Akif was bringing drugs to the boat from Istanbul. He was saying that he brought the drugs through the airport and was not being searched."
