Testimony of Sevil Akdağ, who stabbed her friend to death at home, revealed: Why did she kill Elif Kırav?

In the incident that occurred yesterday evening in Istanbul's Fatih district, social media influencer Elif Kırav was found dead in a pool of blood at her home. At the address reached by police teams following a report, numerous stab wounds were detected on Kırav’s body. 

Crime scene investigation teams and the Homicide Bureau Directorate launched a comprehensive investigation after the murder.

CAMERA FOOTAGE EXPOSED THE KILLER

Police teams examined security cameras in the area. The footage showed that the person who had entered Kırav’s home with her shortly before was her actor friend Sevil Akdağ. In the footage, Akdağ is seen leaving the house in a hurry after the incident.

CAUGHT IN ESENYURT

Sevil Akdağ, whose identity was established from the footage, was caught in Esenyurt and taken into custody as a result of work carried out by teams from the Homicide Bureau Directorate. Akdağ was taken to the Public Order Branch Directorate for questioning.

AKDAĞ’S STATEMENT EMERGES

In her initial statement to police, Akdağ admitted to the murder and claimed that an argument broke out between her and Elif Kırav in the morning for a reason she did not know, and that Kırav hit her. 

Akdağ claimed that they fell to the ground during the struggle, and that she panicked and fled after noticing that Kırav had become motionless.

HER BODY HAD NUMEROUS STAB WOUNDS

Initial examinations at the scene found numerous stab wounds to Elif Kırav’s head, chest and neck.

REFERRED TO COURT

Sevil Akdağ was referred to the courthouse after procedures at the police station. The investigation into the murder is continuing.
