Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy's trip to Greece on a luxury yacht with Ahmet Hakan has stirred up the political and media agenda.
Following the photos shared on social media, Şamil Tayyar, one of the prominent figures of the AKP, joined the debate.
AKP MKYK member and former MP Tayyar criticized the photo in question with harsh expressions in a statement on his social media account.
Tayyar said, "Ahmet Hakan is a journalist; he has no political responsibility. He will account to the public if he feels the need to do so in terms of professional ethics. However, a minister's luxury yacht vacation photo in the Greek islands is very disturbing."
“WAR, CRISIS, HIGH COST OF LIVING…
Deepening his criticism, Tayyar used the following expressions:
"While there is a war on our border, a massacre continues in Gaza, there are serious problems in the tourism sector, and the public is struggling with the high cost of living, a minister's luxury yacht vacation in the Greek islands is not pleasant at all. Whether you call it an 'interview meeting' or find another excuse for it; this image is unacceptable."
Stating that such images have now become commonplace, Tayyar continued his words as follows:
"In the past, such examples were very exceptional. Now they are multiplying like mushrooms. That is what is truly sad. We are entering a period where sensitivity in society is disappearing."
