Selçuk Tengioğlu (66), who attacked CHP Chairman Özgür Özel following the funeral ceremony for TBMM Deputy Speaker and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder at the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul, was taken into custody and brought to the Taksim Police Station.
A CHILLING PAST
The Ministry of Interior stated in a post on social media that S.T., who shot and killed his children Barış (19) and Mutlu (17) in 2004 and also wounded his other 2 children, had received a life sentence and was released on parole in 2020.
The inscription on the gravestone of Barış, who was killed by his father, located in the İskenderun district of Hatay, reads: "Now I have a place to rest, may this world be too narrow for you. How could you kill us on Mother's Day, did you not feel pity for our youth?"
