Those who filed the convention lawsuit against CHP speak out: Shocking statements from Lütfü Savaş, Hatip Karaaslan, and Yılmaz Özkanat! 'We could not remain indifferent to İmamoğlu...'
Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, one of the three individuals who filed a lawsuit to cancel the 38th Ordinary Convention of the CHP, stated, "If they say there is no irregularity, I will be glad, I will be happy. If they say there is an irregularity, then those who did it will be purged from the party, and I will be happy again."

All eyes in the CHP are turned to the convention lawsuit to be heard tomorrow (September 15). Former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who lost to Özgür Özel at the 38th Ordinary Convention, continues his silence.
The individuals who filed the lawsuit, former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, Hatip Karaaslan, and Yılmaz Özkanat, made statements to the pro-government newspaper Sabah.
While Hatip Karaaslan said, "We could not remain indifferent to ensure that İmamoğlu and his team do not finish off our party, so we filed the lawsuit," Lütfü Savaş also made striking statements ahead of the critical hearing.
"Our Chairman Özgür Özel was being referred to as the questionable chairman of a questionable convention. As a member of the Republican People's Party, I filed this lawsuit so that my party's name would not be tarnished, so it could be cleared of irregularities, and so that everything would come to light," Savaş said. "Just as a sick person goes to a doctor, I turned to the law. If they say there is no irregularity, I will be glad and happy. If they say there is an irregularity, then those responsible will be purged from the party, and I will be happy again. This case is ours, it is the case of CHP members. Let no one interfere, let justice be served," he stated.
"WE COULD NOT REMAIN INDIFFERENT TO İMAMOĞLU"
Hatip Karaaslan told the pro-government newspaper the following:
"I have been a CHP member since the SHP era. Immediately after the 38th Convention, the fight over irregularities began. In fact, we first saw the irregularity at the Istanbul Congress. Delegates began saying, 'I took what I took, I gave what I gave.'
I saw it with my own eyes. They offered us money too. İmamoğlu used the CHP as a stepping stone for his political career and disrupted the party's chemistry. We fought among ourselves for 6-7 months. We could not make our voices heard by the Headquarters. We could not make any progress. Will was bought with money. We could not remain indifferent to ensure that İmamoğlu and his team do not finish off our party, so we filed the lawsuit."
"THERE WAS NO DIRECTION FROM ANY PARTY"
Yılmaz Özkanat noted the following:
"From the very top to the very bottom, everyone knows everything. There were wrongs and corruption. As a good CHP member, I filed the lawsuit so that the party could be purified from irregularities and get rid of this controversy.
During this process, there was no suggestion, advice, or direction from any party for us to file this lawsuit. This case is our own, it is an internal matter of the CHP. My friends and I have conveyed what we know to the prosecutor's office. With the decision that will be made, let those who are free of irregularities manage the CHP."
