Traffic paralyzed in Istanbul as rain hits! Density reaches 80 percent
Rain, which was effective in Istanbul during the morning hours, caused traffic congestion. While traffic came to a standstill in many parts of the city, according to the IMM Traffic Density Map, density reached up to 80 percent. Congestion occurred especially on main arteries such as the D-100 Highway and the TEM Motorway.

Traffic came to a standstill on the D-100 Highway in the Maltepe area on the Anatolian side and at some points on the European side.
Those who wanted to go to their jobs or schools in the morning hours of the first workday of the week created density on the roads and at public transport stops.
Traffic density is observed on the D-100 highway on the Anatolian side between Pendik and Kadıköy in the direction of Edirne. In the direction of Ankara, vehicles are struggling to move at some points between Göztepe and Maltepe.
Traffic is also moving slowly on the TEM Motorway in the Sancaktepe-Ataşehir section in the direction of Edirne, and in the Ataşehir area in the direction of Ankara.
Traffic congestion occurred on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, Eurasia Tunnel, and connecting roads during the transition from the Anatolian side to the European side.
On the European side, traffic density occurred on the D-100 highway in the direction of Kadıköy in Avcılar, Bakırköy, Edirnekapı, Haliç Bridge, Halıcıoğlu, and Çağlayan, while traffic is flowing smoothly in the direction of Avcılar except for some points.
On the TEM Motorway, density is observed between Esenyurt and Mahmutbey Toll Booths and between Gaziosmanpaşa and Kağıthane in the direction of Ankara.
According to the IMM Pocket Traffic map data, traffic density reached 71 percent on the European side and 90 percent on the Anatolian side.
