Following the death of Menzil sect leader Abdulbaki Elhüseyni on July 12, 2023, the inheritance disputes that began among his sons, Muhammed Saki, Muhammed Fettah, and Muhammed Mubarek Elhüseyni, have reached the point of conflict.
According to a report by BirGün, a dispute over the division of an area referred to as a "dervish lodge" by sect members in Istanbul's Sancaktepe district quickly escalated into an armed clash.
ARMED CLASH IN SANCAKTEPE
It was reported that four people were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to hospitals, and police teams were stated to have taken extensive security measures in the area. Following the clash, statements accusing one another were made from accounts affiliated with different wings of the sect.
In a post made from accounts close to Muhammed Saki Elhüseyni, it was stated, "The bullets fired were not aimed at the 'sofis' (sect members) there, but at the entire Ummah of Muhammad. The day will come when this account is settled."
In another statement, it was alleged that the attack was carried out by a sect member affiliated with Muhammed Fettah Elhüseyni, and the following words were included:
"They were shot by bullets from the gun of someone affiliated with the notorious Muhammed Fettah Elhüseyni. Our brothers are in good condition. You must absolutely avoid actions that will raise tensions. The police took that terrorist away; the state will do what is necessary, we trust our state."

Evaluating the developments, journalist İsmail Arı drew attention to the political dimension of the inheritance feud in Menzil. Arı stated that the government is displaying a "dual attitude" during this process.
Arı used the following expressions in his statement:
"When Abdulbaki Elhüseyni died, President Erdoğan called his eldest son. However, many AKP figures went to offer condolences to the other brothers. This fight will not end easily. A fortune of 50 billion TL is being mentioned."
