MAJOR PROTEST IN ERDOĞAN'S HOMETOWN OF RİZE

The detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was protested in the Pazar district of Rize.

CHP Pazar District Chair Ömer Hocaoğlu stated, "Oh you desperate ones who try to design politics with judicial apparatuses; do not forget, world imperialism could not surrender us at Çanakkale on March 18, 1915, and the fascism of September 12, 1980, could not surrender us. Ankara University students tried to cross barricades as they wanted to leave the university to conclude their protest on campus.

Students were intervened with pepper spray, and 6 students were detained.

İZMİR

Students studying in İzmir, reacting to İmamoğlu's detention, met at Bornova Büyükpark.

Students who wanted to go in front of the AKP Provincial Headquarters encountered a police barricade. Changing their direction, the students tried to reach the provincial building from the back. The protesters, who came face to face with the police, tore down the barrier.

ESKİŞEHİR

Anadolu University students, supporting the detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, marched from in front of the cafeteria to the rectorate building.

The students, who made a statement there, later marched to the city center and met with students from other universities.

Citizens in the vicinity supported the students with applause, car horns, and by banging pots and pans from their windows.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Kırıkkale Provincial Organization held a march in support of İmamoğlu in front of the party building under snowfall. The event, which was also attended by Kırıkkale Mayor Ahmet Önal, included CHP Provincial Chair Onur Yüksel Bozdağ, CHP Central District Chair Yücel Kızık, and many citizens.
