Turkey's 20 cities with the lowest earthquake risk announced: Here is the list!

The Turkey Earthquake Hazard Map and the Turkey Active Fault Map, prepared by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), have been published with updated data. According to the latest update, the 20 cities with the lowest earthquake risk have been identified.

WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED TO EVALUATE EARTHQUAKE RISK?

Experts consider the following factors when determining the earthquake risk of a region:

The region's distance to active fault lines

The geological structure and durability of the ground

The frequency and magnitude of historical earthquakes

The results of geological and seismological analyses

The new list, prepared as a result of analyses based on these criteria, serves as a guide for those who want to plan a safe life.

Here are the 20 cities in Turkey with the lowest earthquake risk:

20. EDİRNE

Although it is located in the Marmara Region, Edirne is among the less risky provinces because it is far from fault lines.

19. KIRIKKALE

Known for its proximity to Ankara, Kırıkkale is among the provinces with low earthquake risk.

18. KARAMAN

Neighboring Konya, Karaman also carries a similarly low earthquake risk.

17. KONYA

Konya, the largest province in Turkey in terms of surface area, is among the provinces with the lowest earthquake risk.
