Ümit Özdağ evaluates PKK leader Öcalan's statement: He points to that danger! 'Turkey will fall into that trap again'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who has been detained in Silivri Prison for 46 days, gave exclusive statements to Yiğit Can İlarslan from Halk TV regarding developments on the agenda. Speaking specifically about the call text written by Abdullah Öcalan that sparked major controversy, Özdağ used the phrase, "A skillfully prepared statement."

HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE "UNITE" MESSAGE GÖNÜL ÖZDAĞ GAVE TO İMAMOĞLU AND YAVAŞ?

This answer was given not by a 90-year-old journalist and lawyer, but by a mother, Gönül Özdağ. It is the answer a mother would give whose son is being held in detention in violation of the law. I know she is sincere. However, the answer of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ to this question is, "It would not be elegant or appropriate to interfere with the two metropolitan mayors of the CHP."

HOW DOES TURKEY LOOK ON THE TV SCREEN YOU WATCH IN PRISON?

It looks like a police station bulletin. Raids, detentions, arrests... And on the other hand, a one-sided flood of propaganda centered on Öcalan is flowing. They say there is no bargaining, no conditions, but the word 'necessity' has replaced the word 'condition'.

WHAT DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SAW ÖCALAN'S STATEMENT?

Öcalan's statement is a skillfully prepared one. On one hand, he is renouncing the Independent Kurdistan, Federation, Autonomous Region, and even Cultural Rights he has wanted since 1978. But on the other hand, he says, "I am not responsible for what happened; the 20th century, socialism, and the Cold War are responsible." Did the Cold War give the orders for village massacres, or did Öcalan?

Furthermore, he tells the PKK, "You were not defeated, dissolve yourselves." And then he has Sırrı Süreyya Önder add, "If legal conditions are met, the PKK will dissolve itself." But he does not mention the YPG and PJAK.

Of course, Turkey must get rid of the terror scourge, but in the first 'opening' process, it was said, 'let mothers not cry'.

Then, during the trench terror, we gave 724 martyrs from the Gendarmerie Special Operations (JÖH) and Police Special Operations (PÖH). Mothers are not crying because of the TSK (Turkish Armed Forces), but because of the PKK-PYD-PJAK terror.

There must be a Turkey without terror, but the condition for this is that the PKK does not continue as the PYD. Otherwise, Turkey will fall into that trap again.

DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AMONG THE NAMES WHO WILL BE INFLUENTIAL/DECISIVE IN TURKISH POLITICS AND ITS FUTURE?

I cannot decide that. The Turkish Nation decides that. Today, I am a political party chairman whom the government is holding in a cell in Silivri by applying enemy criminal law. My ideas have not changed because I am here. I will continue to say what I know to be true and what I believe. I do not trust anyone or any institution other than God and the Turkish Nation. I say the judgment belongs to the political power, but justice belongs to God.
