What do citizens say about house arrest for Öcalan? Survey results reveal a harsh reaction
ASAL Research announced that in a survey conducted regarding the claims of house arrest for Abdullah Öcalan—which came to the agenda following MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's "right to hope" statement—the vast majority of citizens expressed their opposition. 86.4 percent of the survey participants stated that Öcalan should not be released to house arrest.

ASAL Research shared the results of a survey conducted between January 10-14, 2025, with 1,800 participants using the CATI method, in which they asked the question: "Do you think the terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan should be released to house arrest?"
CITIZENS VETOED
When participants in the survey were asked, "Do you think the terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan should be released to house arrest?", 86.4 percent of the participants answered, "No, he should not be released."
While the rate of those who said "No opinion/No answer" was 10.5 percent, the rate of those who said "Yes, he should be released" was only 3.1 percent.
