While it was suggested that a 1 TL payment per person would be charged for entry to shopping malls, it was claimed that this revenue would be used to cover the expenses of the malls.

As the topic quickly gained significant attention, especially on social media, an explanation came from Nuri Şapkacı, President of the Shopping Mall Investors Association.
According to the report in Patronlar Dünyası, Şapkacı denied the allegations in question.
Describing the claim as fake and absurd, Şapkacı said, "There is no such thing. Where do they come up with these rumors? Why would we ask for 1 TL from customers who spend thousands of liras? You cannot collect it anyway. Shopping malls are public spaces. It wouldn't have crossed my mind; this was the only thing missing."
According to the information provided by Nuri Şapkacı, the total monthly number of visitors to shopping malls reaches approximately 175 million people.
Shopping malls in Turkey provide direct employment for 600 thousand people and indirect employment for 2.1 million people.
