Gelecek Party's Doğan Demir unhappy with 196,775 TL MP salary! 'We only have a basic salary'

Doğan Demir, a Gelecek Party member serving as an Istanbul MP under the Yeni Yol Party umbrella, argued that the 196,775 lira MP salary is insufficient, stating, "Meals, tea, coffee refreshments, accommodation in guesthouses, and travel expenses all come out of our own pockets."

While millions of citizens struggle to make ends meet due to the economic crisis, Gelecek Party Istanbul MP Doğan Demir has complained that MP salaries are too low.

Stating that his salary is 196,775 TL, Demir complained about the high level of his expenses.

Speaking to the Çağdaş Kocaeli newspaper, Demir gave the following response to the question, "Is your salary enough?":

“We only have a basic salary. We also have a free phone line, but I don't use the free phone. Meals, tea, and coffee refreshments for our guests who are always present at the Parliament; accommodation in guesthouses, travel expenses, all of it comes out of our own pockets... We travel between Ankara, İzmit, and Istanbul at least two or three times a week... Between weddings, social events, jewelry, flowers, and gifts, would you believe it, many of our colleagues have bank loan debts!”
