Gökçek family prepares new 'criminal complaint' against Ağırel: Tayyar says 'let's wait and see'

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar made a statement regarding the investigation launched following allegations by journalist Murat Ağırel, in which Melih Gökçek, his son Ahmet Gökçek, and his daughter-in-law Hülya Gökçek gave statements.

Tayyar said, "The Gökçek family is preparing for a new legal battle against Ağırel.

They will file a criminal complaint on charges of 'slander' and 'publicly disseminating misleading information'.

Furthermore, they intend to take the legal battle to Germany, alleging that the acquisition of notarized company contracts was unlawful. Let's wait and see."

"What actually happened?

First, the accuser Murat Ağırel, then the accused Melih Gökçek, his son Ahmet Gökçek, and his daughter-in-law Hülya Gökçek gave statements to the prosecutor's office.

Ağırel did not mention Melih Gökçek's name at all in his 5-page statement.

Yet, in his press statement in front of the courthouse and on TV broadcasts, he had made serious accusations against Melih Gökçek and claimed that he was a partner with his son and daughter-in-law.

Ahmet Gökçek and his wife Hülya Gökçek tried to refute Ağırel's claims by presenting 11 documents in their defense today.

The prosecutor's office will make the final decision; they may decide there is no need for prosecution or they may file a lawsuit.
