A comprehensive change is coming to maternity leave rights for working women.

According to a report in the Sabah newspaper, new steps have been planned to protect a healthy population structure in line with strategies discussed at the Population Policies Board meeting. At the center of these steps is the extension of maternity leave periods.

According to the information received, within the scope of the draft regulation being worked on, it is aimed to increase the paid maternity leave period granted to working mothers to 1 year and to extend the right to unpaid maternity leave to 1.5 years. In addition, providing childcare support to facilitate mothers' return to working life is also among the plans.

THE LEAVE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CIVIL SERVANT AND WORKER FATHERS WILL BE ELIMINATED

According to current legislation, civil servant fathers can take 10 days of paternity leave, while worker fathers can take 5 days. With the new regulation, it is aimed to eliminate this difference and ensure equality in the paternity leave granted to fathers.
