In the city of Bareilly, India, on Saturday, November 23, people from a nearby village found a vehicle submerged in water by the riverbank with lifeless bodies inside. According to the police investigation, those in the vehicle were using GPS to return home from a wedding.
The navigation directed them to an unfinished bridge. Unable to stop because the vehicle was at high speed, the passengers fell from a height of approximately 7.5 meters into a pit in the Ramganga riverbed and lost their lives at the scene.
KNOWN AS A 'DEATH TRAP' BY LOCALS
According to the report on TRT, the names of those who lost their lives were identified as Kaushal Kumai, Vivek Kumar, and Amit Kumar. The trio was trying to take a shortcut home.
According to the information obtained, the bridge at the scene of the accident was destroyed in the severe floods of 2022. The bridge is also known among the local people as a 'death trap'.
Although travel is not permitted on the destroyed bridge, the lack of sufficient warning signs and the reliance of drivers on outdated digital maps make the area a serious danger.
