Government extends condolences to Hamas leader Haniyeh

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın, and Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş called Haniyeh to offer their condolences, while Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz shared a message on his social media account.

According to a statement from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called Hamas Political Bureau Chief Haniyeh following the loss of his children and grandchildren.

During the call, Erdoğan stated that Israel will inevitably be held accountable before the law for the crimes against humanity it has committed.

KALIN CALLED BY PHONE

According to information obtained from security sources, MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın offered his condolences to Haniyeh during a phone call following the death of his children and grandchildren in Israeli attacks.

Kalın discussed the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, Israel's lawless attacks, ceasefire negotiations, and prisoner exchange talks with Haniyeh. Kalın also stated that Turkey will continue to stand by Palestine.

In addition to MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş also called Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh to convey his condolences.

YILMAZ SHARED A POST ON X

In his post, Yılmaz stated that Israel would be held accountable before the law and used the following sentences:

"I extend my condolences to Hamas Political Bureau Chief Mr. Haniyeh for the martyrdom of his three children and three grandchildren in an Israeli attack on the first day of the Eid.

The Israeli administration will sooner or later be held accountable for these inhumane attacks before international law.

On this occasion, I pray for God's mercy upon all Palestinian martyrs, especially the children, who were brutally murdered, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.

We once again invite the international community to make sincere efforts to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace before more innocent civilians are massacred."
