Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated that the city remained unharmed thanks to the measures taken due to the refusal to permit May 1st celebrations. He extended his thanks to Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, administrative officials, and law enforcement officers. Governor Gül said, "I apologize to everyone for the temporary inconvenience caused by transportation restrictions and other measures."

In a post on his social media account, he emphasized the importance of the measures taken for the security of Istanbul.

Davut Gül used the following expressions:

"I extend my endless thanks to those who contributed greatly to ensuring our beloved Istanbul remained unharmed through the May 1st measures; primarily our Minister of Interior Mr. Ali YERLİKAYA, our administrative officials, police chiefs, gendarmerie and coast guard commanders, our law enforcement officers, all public servants, and our 16 million Istanbulite fellow citizens who are always an example to the world with their wisdom. I sincerely apologize to everyone for the temporary inconvenience we caused with the measures (transportation restrictions, etc.) taken for the peace and security of our citizens. May God protect our nation and our state from all kinds of accidents and troubles."
